Football Game Preview: Crestview Knights vs. Bluffton Pirates

The Crestview Knights will square off against the Bluffton Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Crestview's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.

Crestview had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 35-point drubbing they dealt Jefferson on Friday. The Knights blew past the Wildcats, posting a 35-0 victory. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 533rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crestview relied on the efforts of Braxton Leeth, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Huxley Grose, who rushed for 47 yards and one TD. Leeth's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 114 rushing yards. Hayden Perrott got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Crestview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Perrott and Braxtyn Couts. Perrott got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Bluffton came up short against Lima Central Catholic on Saturday and fell 31-21. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Crestview's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Bluffton, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 5-1.

Crestview took a serious blow against Bluffton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 42-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Pirates' Tayte Giesige, who threw for 81 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 61 yards. Now that the Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
