Softball Game Preview: Springfield Yellow Jackets vs. Daphne Trojans

The Springfield Yellow Jackets will be taking part in a tournament against the Daphne Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Springfield challenged Trousdale County. in a bug-themed battle on Wednesday. Springfield and Trousdale County finished up their game with a 10-10 draw.

Meanwhile, Daphne had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Wildcats.

Daphne got a great performance from Campbell Hicks as she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Hicks has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abby J Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Abby Newsom, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Daphne lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Battle Ground Academy didn't launched any home runs.

Springfield's draw makes their record 3-4-1 this season. As for Daphne, their record is now 10-2.
