Softball Game Preview: Tri-County Penguins vs. Hilbert Wolves

The Tri-County Penguins will venture away from home to square off against the Hilbert Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hilbert took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Tri-County, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Tri-County beat Port Edwards 12-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Penguins.

Paitton Rothermel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Kaila Foster and Kaylee Goman did most of the damage at the plate: Foster scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Goman scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Foster a new career-high. Jaycie Sanchez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Hilbert lost 11-1 to St. Mary Catholic on Thursday.
