Softball Recap: Fallbrook Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fallbrook ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Escondido Cougars 3-2. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Alicia Sorden looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Valeria Cervera, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Gia Vitale, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Fallbrook's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-8-1. As for Escondido, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fallbrook will host Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Escondido, they will be playing at home against Ramona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
