Basketball Recap: Ryan Farris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverview Sarasota over Manatee

Riverview Sarasota suffered their closest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Monday. They fell just short of the Manatee Hurricanes by a score of 61-59. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Farris, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Farris has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Harris, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points.

Manatee had a senior duo take command as Keith Fields dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds and Detmer Steffensen went 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Fields has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kerry Peacock, who posted nine points.

Riverview Sarasota now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Manatee, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Riverview Sarasota will be playing in front of their home fans against Booker at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Riverview Sarasota's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches. As for Manatee, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 90-72 win against Lakewood Ranch on the 14th.
