Baseball Recap: New Haven Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

New Haven came out on top against Clintondale on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run second inning. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Dragons. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Kaden Gilbert was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. New Haven is undefeated when Gilbert posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, New Haven got a big performance out of Will Bosco, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Bosco has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Connor Abuan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

New Haven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

New Haven's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.5 runs. As for Clintondale, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, New Haven will face off against Roseville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Clintondale, they will challenge Fitzgerald at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
