Baseball Recap: Vancleave Continues Home Dominance on Friday

There's no place like home for Vancleave, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the George County Rebels by a score of 5-2 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Rebels last Tuesday, they had to take a 8-2 defeat.

Max Bates was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Bates wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Tapp, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Hunter Harper also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.

Vancleave's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for George County, they moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
