Recap: Trego Golden Eagles vs. Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs

It was a good run, but the Trego Golden Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Thomas More Prep-Marian by a score of 38-35. Trego was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Monarchs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Friday.

Trego lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dani Shubert, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Shubert is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Avery Ziegler was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.

Trego's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, they pushed their record up to 7-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trego will take on the Railroaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Ellis is ranked 117th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 100th). As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, they will be playing at home against the Redmen on Friday. Smith Center's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so the Monarchs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
