The national track and field sprint leaderboard reveals some of the country's top football talent as well.

As the track and field season winds down and we start to look ahead to the fall, here are some of the fastest and most prominent high school football players who wear spikes in the spring.

Paul Lucas, Mountain Pointe

1. Paul Lucas (Mountain Pointe-Phoenix)The 5-foot-11, 175-pound junior was one of the football team's main breakaway threats with 1,008 rushing yards, 12 touchdowns and a hefty 9.6 yards per carry. In the biggest games of the year — an opening win at nationally-ranked Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and two wins over Hamilton, including the state finals — Lucas was at his best with 453 yards and four scores. He led Mountain Pointe to a landmark 14-0 record and No. 6 spot in the
final 2013 Xcellent 25 national rankings. On the track, he owns the ninth fastest 100-meter mark (10.42 seconds) and the nation's best 200 time of 20.84 set at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational.
2. Adoree' Jackson (Serra-Gardena, Calif.)Ranked the No. 7 composite football player in the
country by 247Sports, Jackson utilizes his explosive speed to do it all on the gridiron. The 5-10, 182-pound cornerback, running back and receiver rushed for 639 yards and five scores, caught 38 passes for 812 yards and seven touchdowns and intercepted six passes while leading Serra to a 13-1 season. He was a
first team MaxPreps All-American. Jackson led Serra to a California (all divisions) state track and field championship last year, taking second in the long jump and contributing legs on both winning relays. Jackson has run 21.86 in the 200 this season and is the nation's No. 1 long jumper at 25-5 1/4, though he was disqualified last week for "receiving communication electronically" during the course of his competition. Jackson plans to compete in track and field at USC as well as football.
3. K.D. Cannon (Mt. Pleasant, Texas)The 6-foot, 162-pound receiver has signed to Baylor after catching more than 240 passes for 3,800 yards and 52 touchdowns in his career. He's the
No. 42 recruit overall from the Class of 2014 according to 247Sports. Cannon ran a slightly wind-aided 10.32-second 100 (2.1 meters per second wind) at the Texas 4A state meet earlier this month.

4. Darrion Flowers (Houston-Arlington, Texas)A 5-foot-9, 160-pound senior receiver and returner, Flowers has run the fastest all-conditions 100 meters in the country at 10.27 seconds. It was at the Texas 5A District 3 meet on April 9 and no wind conditions were indicated. Flowers signed a letter of intent to play football and run track at TCU on Tuesday.
5. Marquis Morris (De La Salle-Concord, Calif.)The 6-2, 165-pound receiver was the Spartans' big-play receiver with 23 catches for 521 yards (22.6 per catch) and four touchdowns, including a 50-yarder in the state title game. He's California's defending state champion in the 100-meter hurdles and he tops the list in 2014 at 13.93 seconds. He's also the state's No. 1 300-meter hurdler (36.94), which ties him for seventh in the country.
6. Aaron Sharp (Summer Creek-Houston) The
6-3, 190-pound dual threat quarterback led Summer Creek to an 11-1
record while earning a scholarship to UCLA. Sharp used his blazing speed
to get out of trouble and make plays that attracted such schools as
Arizona State, Baylor, Texas and Houston, all of which made him offers. In
track, he owns the nation's No. 6 200 time of 20.97.

7. Sean McGrew (St. John Bosco-Bellflower, Calif.)One of the nation's top sophomore running backs, McGrew rushed for 2,076 yards and 21 touchdowns for the nation's No. 2 team. He rushed for 148 yards in the state-title win over De La Salle and the game before that he had 372 yards and six touchdowns in a wild 70-49 win over Centennial to take a Southern Section crown. On the track, he won the Southern Section Division III prelims with a wind-aided 10.64 seconds in the 100.
8. Malik Wilson (Brenham, Texas)At
only 5-8 and 142 pounds, the senior wide receiver, defensive back and
returner helped Brenham to a 14-2 record. He rushed for 73 yards, caught
12 passes, averaged 34 yards per kickoff return and intercepted two
passes. He ran a 10.33 100 at the Texas 4A District 18 meet, however no
wind reading was indicated.
9. Christian Coleman (Our Lady of Mercy-Fairburn, Ga.)The 5-8, 160-pound cornerback-receiver-returner did a little bit of everything for the Bobcats with three touchdowns rushing, 34 catches including two more scores and 844 all-purpose yards. On defense, he shut down one side of the field and had an interception. He's recorded the fifth-fastest wind-legal 100 time in the country this year at 10.38 and the 12th best 200 (21.10).
10. Terrell Smith (Vicksburg, Miss.)The 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back-linebacker-running back rushed for 569 yards, caught 26 passes and was a mainstay on defense for the 6-6 Gators. He's recorded the ninth-best 200 in the country at 21.03 and is the state leader in the 100 (10.71) and the 200.
