Softball Game Preview: Classical Academy Caimans vs. Canyon Crest Academy Ravens

The Classical Academy Caimans will head out to challenge the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Crest Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Classical Academy, who comes in off a win.

Classical Academy will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Orange Glen on Tuesday. The Caimans were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Caimans, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophie Subka was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Isabel Johnson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Canyon Crest Academy's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They fell 6-1 to Scripps Ranch. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Ravens couldn't push the score so high this time.

Melony Garcia was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1.

Classical Academy couldn't quite get it done against Canyon Crest Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 as they fell 6-2. Can the Caimans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
