Basketball Game Preview: Box Elder Bees vs. Roy Royals

Box Elder has gone 8-2 against Roy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Box Elder Bees will head out to square off against the Roy Royals at 7:00 p.m. Box Elder has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matchups.

On Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Box Elder beat Clearfield 57-51. The victory continues a trend for the Bees in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Box Elder to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mayson Jeppsen, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds. Jeppsen's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jantzen Vranes, who went 5-for-8 en route to 11 points.

Meanwhile, Roy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Bountiful, falling 67-46. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the RedHawks are ranked 18th).

Roy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Box Elder, their win bumped their record up to 5-17.

Box Elder didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Roy in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Roy's Jesse Jones, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Box Elder still be able to contain Jones? There's only one way to find out.
