Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Pinecrest Academy Cadence had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it 15. They were outmatched by the Cheyenne Desert Shields and fell 84-24. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-8.

Nsikan Inwek was Pinecrest Academy Cadence's leading scorer, having posted six points. Inwek also led the team in rebounds with six.

As for Cheyenne, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. That looming 84-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cheyenne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aedyn Keeno, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine steals. Keeno has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Igniz Segovia-Gonzalez, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 14 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinecrest Academy Cadence will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Awaken Christian at 3:30 p.m. on January 1, 2026. As for Cheyenne, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Doral Academy Red Rock at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Desert Shields' defense better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 70.8 points per game this season.
