League recap: Rio Linda tops Del Campo to extend winning streak

Capital Valley Conference recap November 13, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in Capital Valley Conference this week, Rio Linda beat Del Campo 49-20. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

Rio Linda took down the Cougars 49-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Marcel Brown ran for 294 yards during the win.

Brown was a beast in the backfield as Michael Morris' team bested Del Campo.

Stephen Andrews threw for 148 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Brown was a passing and rushing force as the Knights beat Mike Dimino's team. Brown's favorite target this week was Keenan Hunt, who caught 3 passes for 71 yards.

Andrews and Brown gave Rio Linda a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Andrews also contributed to the rushing game with 43 yards on the ground.

6-foot-0 quarterback Peyton Wilfley of Casa Roble is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,524. He has also thrown 26 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Holmes. The Oakmont star has 55 catches for 822 yards.

Bella Vista made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,094 from 9,416. The improvement was largely due to a 45-44 victory over the Broncos last week.
