Basketball Recap: Frankfort Comes Up Short

On Monday, the Frankfort Falcons ended up a good deal behind the Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams and lost 82-68. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Falcons came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 76th in West Virginia, while the Rams are ranked 275th in Pennsylvania).

Turkeyfoot Valley Area got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Nicholson out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine assists. Nicholson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Zack Ryan was another key player, going 8-for-9 en route to 19 points and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Frankfort and nudges their season record down to 7-7. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Frankfort will welcome Bishop Walsh at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-34 win against Ferndale on the 13th.
