Softball Game Preview: Franklin County Tech Eagles vs. McCann Tech Hornets

The Franklin County Tech Eagles will head out to take on the McCann Tech Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Franklin County Tech put up the most runs they have all season on Saturday. Everything went their way against Mount Greylock Regional as they made off with a 15-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mounties: they've now won three in a row.

Brayleigh Burgh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Burgh was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Franklin County Tech let Lindsey Taylor and Charley Knight run wild. Taylor went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Knight went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four hits gave Taylor a new career-high. Breanna Kempf was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, McCann Tech made easy work of Mahar Regional on Tuesday and carried off a 19-2 victory. Considering the Hornets have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Franklin County Tech's record is now 6-12. As for McCann Tech, their record now sits at 12-1.

Franklin County Tech got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 against McCann Tech by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
