Softball Recap: Payson Comes Up Short

If Payson was riding high fresh off their 13-0 takedown of San Tan Foothills last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Longhorns fell just short of the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Longhorns have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Tatum Weinland and Windsong Burdette stepped up to the plate in a big way. Weinland scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Burdette scored a run while going 3-for-3. Breezey Morgan was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Payson's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Bourgade Catholic, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Payson will challenge rival Benjamin Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bourgade Catholic is set to take on their familiar foe Northwest Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
