Recap: Houston County Bears vs. Woodward Academy War Eagles
The Houston County Bears and the Woodward Academy War Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Houston County Bears had to settle for second. They were the victim of a tough 27-7 defeat at the hands of the War Eagles. Houston County's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Houston County's loss came despite strong showings from Ricky Johnson and Ryan Taleb. Johnson picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Taleb rushed for 27 yards. Johnson was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 69 yards.
Even if they lost, Houston County's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Xavier Ryan was especially locked on to Woodward Academy's QB and sacked him twice.
Among those leading the charge was Lucas Farrington, who rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown.
Houston County's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Woodward Academy, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Houston County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Woodward Academy will square off against Gainesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gainesville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
