Softball Recap: Lenoir City Comes Up Short

If Lenoir City was feeling good fresh off their 10-4 takedown of Loudon on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Hardin Valley Academy Hawks by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 9-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Lenoir City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Reed, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Another was Kymbal Williams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Lenoir City's record is now 7-5. As for Hardin Valley Academy, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-16.

Looking ahead, Lenoir City will welcome South-Doyle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hardin Valley Academy, they will head out to challenge Bearden at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.1 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
