The Yellow Jackets will square off against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Coalfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Sale Creek, posting a 40-7 victory. The Yellow Jackets pushed the score to 40-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Jaiden Bunch produced another solid effort rushing for 253 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also catching one touchdown. Bunch is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 124 every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, South Pittsburg's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Clay County get on the board and left with a 45-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 126th).

Coalfield's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for South Pittsburg, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.

Coalfield suffered a grim 31-6 defeat to South Pittsburg in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Pirates' Dayon Cooper, who rushed for 142 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
