Soccer Game Preview: Palatine vs. Barrington

The Palatine Pirates will face off against the Barrington Fillies/Broncos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Palatine's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Hersey. The victory was all the more spectacular given Palatine's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Hersey are ranked 36th).

Palatine's one-goal win came courtesy of Brandon Tornez, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Barrington had just enough and edged out Buffalo Grove 1-0 on Friday.

The win snapped Palatine's losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 5-7-1 record. As for Barrington, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4-2.

Palatine skirted past Barrington 1-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Fillies/Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
