Baseball Game Preview: Elmore County Panthers vs. Shelby County Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Elmore County Panthers take on Shelby County Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elmore County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Shelby County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Elmore County will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Calera on Wednesday. Elmore County was the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Calera. The Panthers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 14th.

Meanwhile, Shelby County came up short against Oak Mountain on Wednesday and fell 7-2. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Shelby County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Matherson, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Elmore County's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Shelby County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Elmore County was able to grind out a solid win over Shelby County in their previous meeting last Monday, winning 7-4. Will Elmore County repeat their success, or does Shelby County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
