Football Recap: Westminster Schools of Augusta Wildcats vs. Monsignor Donovan Catholic Rams
Westminster Schools of Augusta gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They really took it to the Monsignor Donovan Catholic Rams for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-6 win at home. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row dating back to last season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westminster Schools of Augusta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Levi Murphey, who threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes. Daniel Drinkard was another key rusher, gaining 78 total yards and two touchdowns.
Westminster Schools of Augusta's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Jack Hobbs was especially locked on to Monsignor Donovan Catholic's QB and sacked him twice. Hobbs' also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making two total tackles.
Monsignor Donovan Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster Schools of Augusta will welcome Harvester Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monsignor Donovan Catholic, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on St. Mary's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on September 13th.
