Basketball Game Preview: Houghton Lake Bobcats vs. Evart Wildcats

Houghton Lake hasn't had much luck against Evart recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bobcats duke it out with the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

Houghton Lake lost 52-30 to Beal City on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Evart had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-30 win over the Gladiators. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Gladiators are ranked 447th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evart pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Houghton Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.

Houghton Lake took a serious blow against Evart in their previous matchup back in January, falling 51-13. Can Houghton Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
