Baseball Game Preview: Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs vs. Duanesburg Eagles

Berne-Knox-Westerlo is 1-7 against Duanesburg since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Duanesburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Berne-Knox-Westerlo, who comes in off a win.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Galway, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Golden Eagles 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since April 15th.

Stevens has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9-1 otherwise.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Duanesburg was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They fell just short of Cobleskill-Richmondville by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Duanesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
