On Friday, Nome-Beltz faced Barrow in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Nome-Beltz Nanooks enjoyed a cozy 73-59 victory over the Barrow Whalers. The win continues a trend for the Nanooks in their matchups with the Whalers: they've now won five in a row.

Despite the loss, Barrow saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alex Fruean posted 27 points. The game was Fruean's tenth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jaziah Tivao, who had 11 points.
