Softball Game Preview: Lincolnwood Lancers vs. Central A & M Raiders

The Lincolnwood Lancers will take on the Central A & M Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Lincolnwood is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 31st on Friday. They lost 12-3 to Pleasant Plains. The loss continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Central A & M can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Shelbyville 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since March 17th.

Gwyn Hardimon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Riley Hazelwonder was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run. Brookelyn Jackson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Central A & M kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 8-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

Central A & M's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Lincolnwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Lincolnwood beat Central A & M 5-2 in their previous meeting on Monday. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
