Soccer Game Preview: Chaparral vs. Vista Murrieta

The Chaparral Pumas will head out to face off against the Vista Murrieta Broncos at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chaparral has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Vista Murrieta will arrive with seven straight wins.

Chaparral is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They took a 5-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Murrieta Valley on Monday.

Meanwhile, Vista Murrieta kept a clean sheet against Murrieta Mesa on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rams 1-0. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Rams are ranked 915th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vista Murrieta has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 44 goals over those 12 games. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10-2.

Chaparral might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Vista Murrieta when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Chaparral avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
