Baseball Game Preview: Muscatine Muskies vs. Pleasant Valley Spartans

Muscatine hasn't had much luck against Pleasant Valley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Muskies will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Muscatine 3.4, Pleasant Valley 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

While Muscatine didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 11-8 win over Mt. Pleasant on Friday. The Muskies haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions a 5-0 shutout.

Pleasant Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Muscatine, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1-1.
