Softball Recap: Mars Takes a Loss

Mars lost to New Castle back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Fightin' Planets lost 21-7 to the Hurricanes. The Fightin' Planets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sophia Soltis and Tessa Simoni did some serious damage despite the final result: Soltis went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Simoni went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That home run marked the first that Soltis has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Edyn Giammatteo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Mars' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for New Castle, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Coincidentally, Mars and New Castle will both be playing Shaler Area the next time they take the field. The Hurricanes will host the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Fightin' Planets will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
