Baseball Recap: Nixon-Smiley Comes Up Short

Nixon-Smiley lost against Stockdale back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mustangs lost 14-1 to the Brahmas. The Mustangs' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Jaydin Munoz put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Munoz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

Nixon-Smiley's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Stockdale, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-11-1 record.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Nixon-Smiley will challenge rival Luling at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Stockdale is set to face off against their familiar foe Poth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for the Brahmas: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Pirates have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
