Volleyball Game Preview: Berkeley Yellowjackets vs. Castro Valley Trojans

The Berkeley Yellowjackets and the Castro Valley Trojans, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Berkeley had won 13 straight home games dating back to last season and Oscar Hernandez did his part to make it 14 on Thursday. Everything went the Yellowjackets' way against Albany as they made off with a 3-0 victory thanks in part to Hernandez, who had nine digs and two aces. He has been hot for a while, having also posted 15 or more assists the last 14 times he's played.

While Berkeley might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Albany scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 26-24, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Castro Valley made easy work of Piedmont on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Castro Valley was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-10, 25-11.

Berkeley's victory bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Castro Valley, their win bumped their record up to 23-7.

Berkeley came out on top in a nail-biter against Castro Valley in their previous matchup on April 10th, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
