Basketball Recap: North Florida Educational Institute Takes a Loss

North Florida Educational Institute lost against Mainland back in January of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The North Florida Educational Institute Fighting Eagles came up short against the Mainland Buccaneers, falling 65-45. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 181st).

Mainland found their leader in sophomore Kade Manley, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 25 points and five steals. That's the most steals Manley has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Seven Simmons, who went 6 for 8 en route to 17 points and four steals.

North Florida Educational Institute has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Mainland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.

North Florida Educational Institute wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Potter's House Christian on the 18th. As for Mainland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-66 loss against Fleming Island on the 20th.
