Cheney was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Shadle Park Highlanders 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Blackhawks as it put an end to their five-match losing streak.

Cheney was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 24-26, 18-25, 27-25, 15-12.

Cheney's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for Shadle Park, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.
