Basketball Preview: DePaul Cristo Rey vs. Finneytown Wildcats
DePaul Cristo Rey is 0-5 against the Wildcats since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. DePaul Cristo Rey will look to defend their home court against the Finneytown Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-28, which was the final score in DePaul Cristo Rey's tilt against the Gators on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points DePaul Cristo Rey has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Britain Starks, who scored ten points. That was a full 35.7% of DePaul Cristo Rey's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Finneytown's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They suffered a rough 53-28 defeat at the hands of Indian Hill. While losing is never fun, Finneytown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while the Braves are ranked 184th).
DePaul Cristo Rey has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Finneytown, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
DePaul Cristo Rey took a serious blow against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 73-38. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point DePaul Cristo Rey was down 46-20.
