Basketball Game Preview: Onaway Cardinals vs. Inland Lakes Bulldogs

The Onaway Cardinals will square off against the Inland Lakes Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Onaway lost 66-42 to St. Mary Cathedral on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Snowbirds are ranked 125th).

Meanwhile, Inland Lakes had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They breezed by the Ironmen to the tune of 53-26. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Inland Lakes' win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.5 points per game. As for Onaway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Onaway came up short against Inland Lakes in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 46-38. Can Onaway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
