Soccer Game Preview: Braddock vs. Homestead

The Braddock Bulldogs will challenge the Homestead Broncos at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Braddock headed into their last matchup having not scored more than one goal for three straight, but Jackson let them put that streak behind them. The Bulldogs rang in the new year with a 5-3 victory over the Generals two weeks ago. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Braddock's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

They hit Jackson with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ezequiel Umbria (2), Diego Palomino (2), and Adriel Gonzalez.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Homestead had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given Homestead's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Southridge are ranked 149th).

Braddock is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-3 record this season. As for Homestead, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
