Soccer Game Preview: Goddard vs. Artesia

For the first time this season, Goddard will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Artesia Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Thursday, Goddard didn't have quite enough to beat Santa Teresa and fell 2-1.

The Rockets' goal came courtesy of Sophia Royo Begueria, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Artesia waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Coyotes a 1-0 shutout. Artesia's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Artesia's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Goddard, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-2.

Goddard couldn't quite get it done against Artesia when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
