Sparks has gone 8-2 against Truckee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Railroaders will challenge the Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. Sparks will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
On Monday, Sparks got the win against Hug by a conclusive 17-2.
Bailey Hunden made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Ellise Henderson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Liliana Pimentel Espana, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Sparks always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Truckee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 15-5 to North Valleys.
Jessie Borzello was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.
Sparks' record now sits at 7-10. As for Truckee, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sparks hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Truckee struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sparks couldn't quite finish off Truckee when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Railroaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
