Basketball Recap: Mancos' Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Ouray wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Mancos, they should've done a better job of containing Tinsley Aspromonte. The Mancos Bluejays took their match on Saturday with ease, bagging a 47-12 win over the Ouray Trojans thanks in part to Aspromonte, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mancos' points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Randi Lewis, who posted 11 points and five steals. Mancos is 4-1 when Lewis posts three or more steals, but 2-9 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for Mancos and bumps their season record up to 6-10. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.0 points over those games. As for Ouray, they dropped their record down to 0-17 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Mancos will head out to take on Montezuma-Cortez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ouray, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Olathe at 5:30 p.m. Ouray is facing Olathe at the right time seeing as Olathe is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
