Softball Recap: Frederick Extends Winning Streak to Four

Frederick extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday, bumping them up to 15-5. They came out on top against the Niwot Cougars by a score of 14-9. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Brealea Stendel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eva Purnell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Frederick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

As for Niwot, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

On Niwot's side, May Herrera made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Payton Stokes also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Frederick has already played their next game, a 12-0 victory against Legacy on the 2nd. As for Niwot, they will challenge Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Roughriders have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
