Baseball Recap: Gordonsville's Victory on Sunday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gordonsville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Sunday. They blew past the Pickett County Bobcats 15-1. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Clinton Pope looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on J. Foster, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Sam Ausderau was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Gordonsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gordonsville pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Pickett County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
