Basketball Recap: Wayne City Takes a Loss

Wayne City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by the Sandoval Blackhawks 52-18. The contest marked the Indians' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Wayne City's loss came despite strong showings from Rhyver Tibbs and Javen Loker. Tibbs posted seven points and eight rebounds, while Loker earned five points.

Drew Gore was the offensive standout of the game as he went 5-for-9 en route to 16 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Quentin Heinzman, who scored six points along with 12 boards and four blocks.

Wayne City's defeat dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Sandoval, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-14.

Wayne City has already played their next contest, a 71-55 loss against Carmi-White County on the 15th. As for Sandoval, they will challenge Father McGivney Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Sandoval is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.
