Softball Game Preview: Taft Wildcats vs. Chavez Titans

For the second straight game, Taft will face off against Chavez. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Titans at 6:30 p.m. Taft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.

Taft will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Chavez on Tuesday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Titans by a score of 15-10. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Rylee Owens was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-5. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycee Edgar, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Owens wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Taft lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

With the defeat, Chavez broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-9. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
