Softball Game Preview: Tarpon Springs Spongers vs. Osceola Warriors

The Tarpon Springs Spongers are taking a road trip to square off against the Osceola Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tarpon Springs is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Tarpon Springs came up short against Pinellas Park and fell 6-3.

Meanwhile, Osceola posted their closest win since February 25th on Wednesday. They skirted past Northeast 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Aliyah Lai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Jenna Neupaver was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Osceola's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Tarpon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Tarpon Springs might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Osceola when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can the Spongers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
