Basketball Recap: Oneida Baptist Institute Comes Up Short

Oneida Baptist Institute lost against North Laurel back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Oneida Baptist Institute Mountaineers were beaten by the North Laurel Jaguars 81-53. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Jaguars are ranked 48th).

Oneida Baptist Institute dropped their record down to 8-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for North Laurel, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6.

Oneida Baptist Institute will head out to square off against Jackson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Laurel, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the North Laurel Jaguars duke it out with the Clay County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Laurel knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Clay County likes a good challenge.
