Baseball Game Preview: Bartlett Golden Bears vs. Chugiak Mustangs

The Bartlett Golden Bears will head out to take on the Chugiak Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bartlett comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Bartlett is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Service, who was ranked first at the time (Bartlett was ranked 24th). The Golden Bears came up short against the Cougars on Thursday, falling 14-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Golden Bears' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Chugiak and Eagle River have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Mustangs lost 9-2 to the Wolves. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered since April 26th.

Chugiak saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Dockstader, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Dockstader has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Bartlett's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Chugiak, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-8.

Bartlett might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Chugiak when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
