Baseball Recap: Denton Gets the Win

Denton won the last time they faced Bowie and things went their way on Saturday too. The Denton Broncos walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Bowie Volunteers.

Denton got a great performance from Jackson Andoga as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Derek Perez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last nine games he's played dating back to last season. Jacob Turner also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen bases of the season.

Denton's win bumped their record up to 4-2-2. As for Bowie, they moved to 9-1 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Denton will take on Midlothian in a tournament on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Midlothian: 2.4, Denton: 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bowie, they will be taking part in a tournament against Turner at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Bowie's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so Turner's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
