Football Recap: Port Edwards Comes Up Short

Port Edwards was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Newman Catholic Fighting Cardinals and fell 48-6. The Blackhawks lost against the Fighting Cardinals in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 20-16 score last time.

Port Edwards' loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Newman Catholic, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Port Edwards is set to challenge their familiar foe Menominee Nation at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Newman Catholic will square off against rival Tri-County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Fighting Cardinals 13.7, the Penguins 13.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
