Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Taryn Arbuthnot and Lily Hrasky Lead Sumner-Eddyville-Miller to Victory

The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Red Cloud Warriors on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller was led to victory by Lily Hrasky and Taryn Arbuthnot. Hrasky had 28 digs, while Arbuthnot hit 51.4% for 20 kills and 44 digs and six blocks. Those 28 digs gave Hrasky a new career-high. Avery Harder also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Despite the loss, Red Cloud had strong showings from Haize Heldt, who had ten digs, and Josie Faimon, who had 19 digs, eight kills, two aces, and one block.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Red Cloud, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Elm Creek on the 13th. As for Red Cloud, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Perkins County on the 13th.
