Basketball Recap: Sealy's Run of Seven Straight Wins Now Over

If Sealy was feeling good fresh off their 86-49 takedown of Giddings on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sealy Tigers took a 67-53 bruising from the Taylor Ducks on Friday. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Sealy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hale Demaree, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallan Hendry, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Sealy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

TJ Whybrew was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 15 on his way to 26 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists for Taylor. Whybrew has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadrien Deary, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points.

Sealy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Taylor, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Cuero the next time they take the court. Taylor will head out to face Cuero at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Sealy will play them later in the day, at 12:45 p.m.
